Why I embraced Islam

The media classifies Muslims as "terrorists," "highjackers" and "kidnappers." So why would anyone even look at Islam? Why are so many priests and preachers going to Islam? Read my story

A Brief Note on Fasting

A Brief Note on Fasting

By: Sheikh Mohammad bin Saleh Al-Othaimeen

Fasting of the Month of Ramadan: is one of the five pillars of Islam,  as indicated by the saying of the Holy Prophet " Islam stands on five (pillars)": To witness that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet; to perform Prayers; to pay Zakah; to fast the month of Ramadan and to perform pilgrimage to Makkah.

BEST PLAN FOR THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

BEST PLAN FOR THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

Complied by: Muhammad Goudah

Before The Month Starts

1. I will count my time by minutes, not hours or days for the time in Ramadan is so valuable.

2. I will make sure I go over this plan enough before Ramadan and have the strong determination to implement it.

3. I will keep thinking of Ramadan from now. I will long for it and I will keep asking Allah to enable me to reach it. “O Allah, allow me to live until Ramadan. O Allah, grant me in it fasting and Salah and accept them from me.”

4. I will give charity BEFORE Ramadan as Anas Ibn Malik reported. He said that the companions of the Prophet used to do that to help the poor enter the month of Ramadan being ready.

5. I will start paying extra attention to the Qur’an BEFORE Ramadan starts to ramp up to something better in Ramadan. I am very encouraged to do so knowing that this was the attitude of the companions during Sha’ban as Anas reported.

6. I will look for some educational material to share with my non-Muslim friends if they need to know more about Ramadan, and I will make them available with me all the time.

SEEK THE BLESSINGS OF RAMADHAN

SEEK THE BLESSINGS OF RAMADHAN

By: Om Mohammed

Our beloved Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) was promised by Allah that all of his (pbuh) sins – past and future – were to be forgiven. It was he (pbuh) who received the divine inspiration of the word of Allah – the message of merciful direction to mankind – what we know of as the Quran. He was the master teacher of our predecessors, the first generation of Muslims. And yet he (pbuh) was steadfast in his practice throughout the year and increasing in Ramadhan of standing for the night prayer and his review of the Quran recitation. He (pbuh), of all the people of this world, was perhaps in less need of it than others, and yet he still humbled himself to observe such forms of increased intense worship. Out of his own recognition of his own level as regards the Creator, and out of his desire to truthfully be humble and thankful slave to the Creator.

Ramadan Awareness

Ramadan Awareness

By: Imran Umer

Dear Fellow Colleagues,

Hope you are well. It is again time of the year when more than 1.57 Billion Muslims around the world will observe the month of Ramadan. Each day during this month, A Muslim is required to abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, as well as participating in anything that is ill-natured or excessive; from dawn until the sun sets. Fasting is intended to educate the Muslim in spirituality, humility and patience. It is a time to cleanse the soul, focus attention on God, give more charity and to put forward more prayer than is customary. During Ramadan, Muslims request forgiveness for sins in the past, pray for direction and assistance in abstaining from everyday troubles, and endeavour to cleanse themselves through self-control and great acts of faith.

Miraculous Aspects of the Holy Qur’an

Miraculous Aspects of the Holy Qur’an

By: Mahmoud Isma’il Saleh,

Professor of Applied Linguistics, King Saud University

Introduction

Different prophets and messengers of Allah were given miracles and signs as proofs of their prophethood. Abraham (pbuh), was saved from the fire into which he was thrown. “They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham! And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers.” (The Qur’an 21:68-70)

How Does Fasting Purify My Soul???

An Ex-Marine

I never thought the day would come when I would be saying the things I am about to say. But I now realize that my life has not been easy, and the way I came to Islam was a difficult one.

Someone may learn from my experience in life, and I hope that my story will put some persons' minds to rest if they are contemplating embracing Islam.

3.19 SAYING SALAT ALOUD OR SILENTLY

Except where the Sunnah dictates, there is otherwise no compulsion to read salah silently or loudly. The Quraan suggests that somewhere in between is preferred. It states:
