ISLAM

 Is an arabic word which denotes complete submission and obedience to God, the Creator and Sustainer of all that exists. God is one in essence and being, there is no concept of a division of His being, or His powers. To God alone does man owe worship and obedience.

     This message was preached by all Prophets of God, among them Adam & Noah, Moses & Abraham, Jonah & Soloman, John & Jesus, until the last of all the Prophets, Muhammad. Their message of one God was the same. They guided men to acknowledge and obey their Creator. As man deviated from the message they brought, God in His Mercy would send another Prophet until He sent the final message and way of life for mankind with the last of the line of Prophets, Muhammad. The revelation given to us which supersedes all other revelations is the Qur’an. It has never been changed or altered since its coming till now.

The Polyglot & Versatile Scientist

    Judge Al-Jisabouri reports, “I visited Abu Raihan when he was on his death bed. He said to me, ‘One day you told me about such and such a problem…’ I said, “You want me to explain it when you are in such a condition?” He said: “Tell me. Is it not better that I leave this world with knowledge about this issue than dying while ignorant of it?” So I explained the subject under discussion, and he in turn taught me things he had promised to explain to me earlier. I had scarcely left him when I heard cries from his house announcing his passing away.”

     This episode sums up for us the personality of our today’s hero, to whom knowledge and search for it were his goal in life. He was, in fact, acting on Prophet Mohammad’s teaching “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.”

The third most common element in the universe is carbon which has an atomic weight of 12.01 grams so one atom of carbon equals 0.0000000000000000000019942 grams.  What does this have to do with good deeds?  Allah Most High tells us in "The Earthquake" chapter (Qur’an7:8):   "So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." What kind of good deed has an atom's weight?  What is that small, littlest thing we may do and it will still be counted in our account?

There is much in both the Quran as well as the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) which promote the learning of knowledge. To begin with, the first word of the Quran which was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) was “Read!” (Qur’an 96:1). Then, in completion, the last verse revealed of the Quran was: “Today have I perfected your religious law for you, and have bestowed upon you the full measure of My blessings, and willed that self-surrender unto Me shall be your religion. As for him, however, who is driven [to what is forbidden] by dire necessity and not by an inclination to sinning -behold, God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.” (Qur’an 5:3)

 Question 94: Why did Islam limit the number of wives to four? And why does it confine man’s sexual pleasure to marriage commitments, home and tasks?

You may be an atheist or an agnostic; or you may belong to any of the religious denominations that exist in the world today.

You may be a communist or a believer in democracy and freedom.

No matter what you are, and no matter what your ideological and political beliefs, personal and social habits happen to, YOU MUST STILL KNOW THIS MAN.

AL-SHAIKH MUHAMMAD IBN ABDUL WAHAB

“Laa Ilaaha'' means absolute negation of deity and ''Illa-Llah'' is a confirmation of deity for God. These words that summarize the Islamic concept of monotheism are the centre of all the efforts and works of our hero, Al-Shaikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab who started a reformatory movement whose repercussions are still alive after 150 years. The movement almost literally brought back the real image of Islam which was alienated through the superstitions and wrong practices of the masses.

There is an old English saying: “What you don’t know won’t hurt you”. It is rather self-explanatory, meaning that you shouldn’t worry about whatever it is that you don’t know, also implying that perhaps if you did actually know something which was previously concealed from you, perhaps you will find that it is somehow hurtful to your life or your being. In other words, it is a saying, which more or less promotes NOT seeking out answers or knowledge. Rather going against the grain of the essence of Islamic teachings, as we will see.

When I first saw this ayat in the Qur'an:

Question 86: If a Muslim struggles hard in order to achieve his own wealth, why should he/she give a certain amount of this wealth in the form of zakat?  Is not all the money his/hers?  Cannot God give the poor money?
