Why I embraced Islam

The media classifies Muslims as "terrorists," "highjackers" and "kidnappers." So why would anyone even look at Islam? Why are so many priests and preachers going to Islam? Read my story

Peace with Other Human Beings

Peace with Other Human Beings

By: Dr. M. Rafat

Islam gives comprehensive instructions to ensure peace in society.

"O believers! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing. Let not the hatred of others (to you) make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. (Always) be just; that is next to piety, and fear Allah." (Qur'an 5: 8)

WHEN WILL THE MUSLIMS BECOME MUSLIMS?

WHEN WILL THE MUSLIMS BECOME MUSLIMS?

By: Umm Mohammad

But what is it to be a Muslim? Is it enough that you were born to Muslim parents and basically taught the Muslim ways? Is it enough that you have a "Muslim" name? Is it enough that it is written on your passport or other official government documents that you are a member of the Muslim faith? Is it enough that you attend some prayers or sermons at the masjid? Is it even truly enough that you utter the words of witness (shahada) or pray five times daily or fast the month of Ramadhan?

II. Heroines of Islam

II. Heroines of Islam

 UMM SULAIM BINT MALHAAN (R.A.A.)

The Model of a Muslim Woman

Earlier, we started the story of a woman who was a typical example of the first generation of Muslim women who offered everything they could for the support of the Message and Messenger of Islam. For its sake she was about to sacrifice another marriage to an honorable and wealthy man. But through the grace of God, the man Abu Talha opened his mind and heart to the message of Islam. To our heroine that was enough of a reward for her, and she considered Abu Talha's conversion to Islam her dower (Sadaaq) not wanting any of the wealth and property he had offered her.

THE LEGEND OF THE SCORPION AND THE FROG

THE LEGEND OF THE SCORPION AND THE FROG

By: Umm Mohammad

The following is a rendition of a story recently told by a local reputed scholar, of an incident which happened during the lifetime of some of the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) in the early days of Islam. For the sake of story-telling, the format has been rendered in fiction-like presentation including dialogue. The story itself is based on true events. The names and the dialogue are in and of themselves fictitious.

Whom to Worship?

          Whom to Worship?

By: Mohammed Al-Mohammed

This article is dramatized as “Whom to worship?” It is going to chronologically trace man’s wondering to whom he should adhere and worship. It starts with the beginning of creation, the story of the Prophet Abraham, the Pharaoh’s story and the French archeologist Dr. Morris Boukay, the story of our Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), the Golden Bough, a book by Frazer, some miracles of the Qur'an, mythology and monotheism, the oneness of God, and it winds up the second sermon by psychoanalyzing the mental makeup of Satan and his ways to approach and mislead man, and it tries to find some remedies.

WHICH WOMEN ARE CURSED???

WHICH WOMEN ARE CURSED???

By: Umm Abd Al-Rahman

Today, we see internationally, a blind imitation of women whether old, middle-aged, young and even small children walking step-by-step in the footsteps of “Western style fashion”.  We women are taught through the media that in order to be valued, worthy, “with it” and “cool” we must wear the latest fashion styles.  We experience “peer pressure” to wear the latest “hot labels” to the latest make-up trends, the latest hair styles and the latest jewelry. The latest fashion regarding eyebrows is that they must be thin.  For conscientious, young Muslim girls to older women who know that...

Why Islam?

Why Islam?

By: Dr. Laurence B. Brown.

From a Muslim convert to all seekers of truth

Let's talk frankly. Almost never do non-Muslims study Islam until they have first exhausted the religions of their exposure. Only after they have grown dissatisfied with the religions familiar to them, meaning Judaism, Christianity and all the fashionable "-isms"—Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism (and, as my young daughter once added, "tourism")—do they consider Islam.

 UMM SULAIM BINT MALHAAN (R.A.A.)

The Model of a Muslim Woman

It has been pointed out that no religion, ideology or constitution has given women as much dignity as Islam, nor have women gained so much of their rights as they have through the teachings of Islam, revealed in the words of God (the Qur'an) and manifested in the traditions (the Hadeeth) of Muhammad (pbuh). On the other hand, the women of Islam have through the ages proven their constant support of the Message since its inception. So the message of Islam gave women their rights and dignity, and they in return gave it, support.
